Dreaming of a white ‘haven’ Christmas
19 November
Queensland sailing holiday operator, Sunsail Sailing Holidays, is offering a white Christmas with a difference with an exclusive Christmas Day barbeque on Whitehaven beach in the Whitsundays.
Despite its remote location, Whitehaven Beach is one of the most photographed beaches in the world, appearing in thousands of promotional images and postcards.
Sunsail guests will also get their own marina berth on Hamilton Island for the duration of their stay meaning they can go shopping, dine out and party on Christmas Eve, before cruising around to iconic Whitehaven Beach for lunch on Christmas Day.
The lunchtime BBQ on Christmas Eve will see ‘Sunsail Santa’ dishing out lucky dip gifts and lollies to the kids, as well as food and drink and lots of seasonal cheer served up by the helpful Sunsail team.
Special Christmas items of food can be included in your Sunsail provisioning package when booking.
Sunsail marketing manager, Kim Silcock, said a Whitehaven Christmas was a unique way to celebrate.
“What better place to be dazzled by bright lights at Christmas than on the shining silica sand of seven-kilometre long Whitehaven Beach amid the sparkling waters of the Whitsundays,” she said.

Silcock said because Sunsail Sailing Holidays was based on Hamilton Island, in the heart of the Whitsunday Islands, guests could be at their first overnight anchorage within hours of stepping off the plane.
“All Sunsail guests are picked up at Hamilton Island airport and taken to our base, which is just minutes away. There we provision the boat and have it all ready-to-go. Following a short briefing, guests can literally be out of the marina within a couple of hours of landing.”
The company offers a wide range of monohull and catamarans, most of which are less than three years old.
The company caters for non-sailors, with a team of expert skippers on hand to show them the ropes, as well as a twice daily radio check to guests are comfortable and safe.
