Tickets on sale for Cruise Council Awards night
29 October
The International Cruise Council Australasia has released details of its 2009 Awards with tickets now available at www.cruising.org.au/industryawards.
The gala event is one of the highlights of the Australasian cruise calendar, and will be held on 23 January 2010, at Dockside Cockle Bay Wharf in Sydney.
Council general manager, Brett Jardine, said the 2009 awards had to be moved to a larger venue after the sell-out success of the 2008 event.
“Despite the tough economic conditions, the cruise industry has continued to thrive and our membership has grown steadily so we anticipate keen interest in our awards night,” Jardine said.
Jardine said the 2009 awards would also see respected cruise industry trailblazer, the late Frank Johnson, honoured with P&O Cruises naming the Consultant of the Year awards for Australia and New Zealand after him.
One of the founders of the Australian Federation of Travel Agents, Frank Johnson was instrumental in the runaway success of P&O Cruises’ “Women’s Weekly Discovery Cruises” in the 1960’s and 70’s.
For the third consecutive year, Cruise Passenger magazine will be the awards’ gold sponsor, while silver sponsorships have been taken out by Avalon Waterways, Royal Caribbean International, Travel the World and Emirates.
Awards categories and sponsors include:
• Gold Agency of the Year Australia – Cruise Passenger Magazine
