Insurance and tickets in one transaction
Virgin Blue has once again teamed up with travel insurance provider, Mondial Assistance, extending their travel insurance product to now include international flights with the airline.
Travellers departing Australia or New Zealand to Virgin Blue’s international destinations can now include an insurance policy covering cancellation, luggage, death, disability and medical assistance in a single transaction, when they purchase their tickets online.
Virgin Blue spokesperson, Amanda Bolger, said the carrier was pleased to be able to extend this service to its international customers.
“There is a clear demand from our passengers for travel insurance, which came through loud and clear when we launched the domestic insurance offering last year. The next step was to offer the same product for our international flights, which we can now do thanks to Mondial.”
The airline reports that the uptake of travel insurance has increased significantly as a result of introducing the product for domestic travellers last September, with more policies of this type sold on the first day of integration into the booking system than in the entire previous year.
“Mondial has unrivalled experience in assistance and our clients can be confident they are being offered a comprehensive insurance package, backed by an international industry leader,” said Bolger.
Products on offer include comprehensive travel insurance for international or domestic travel; an annual policy for frequent travellers; ticket and baggage only insurance; ticket protection insurance and cancellation insurance.
